INDUSTRIAL DRIVE AND AUTOMATION EQUIPMENT

Used in industrial applications to transmit power, helical gearboxes provide a quieter operation level through their angled teeth design. They help distribute the load more evenly, increasing the torque capacity, through their multiple teeth that are in use at once. This allows them to operate quietly, efficiently and offer versatility.

How Does It Work?

A helical gearbox is used to transmit power between shafts and operates using helical gears. Helical gears have teeth, which are at an angle to the axis of the gear, so when contact is made at one end of a tooth, it spreads across as the gear rotates. So, multiple teeth are in contact at once, making the engagement smoother and quieter, where the load is distributed more evenly.

Their load capacity is typically higher, as multiple teeth share the load and transmit higher torque. They are more efficient than spur gears as they encounter less friction and general damage from wear and tear.

Our Range of Helical Gearboxes

At FCR Motion, our range of helical gearboxes is designed to power your industrial machinery at higher capacities and can be applied to a wide variety of machines.

Helical Gearbox Applications

Our range of Helical Gearboxes is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as:

  • Automotive: For seamless and quiet gear shifts that promote efficient power from engines to wheels, helical gears are often applied.
  • Industrial: One of the main industries you’ll find helical gearboxes in use is the industrial and manufacturing industry. They provide the high torque necessary to move heavy materials smoothly. Where power is essential, helical gearboxes provide the capacity to move materials.
  • Pumping: Helical gearboxes are useful when converting energy from one form to another. For instance, in the pumping industry, they are often used to reduce rotational speed, which increases the torque and drives the pump.
  • Heavy Machinery: As they have a high load capacity, helical gearboxes help rotate larger loads and heavy materials.

If you’re not sure, reach out to our team, and they will guide you through your options. But, as a quick guide, you’ll want to consider:

  • Load requirement. Consider torque, speed and gear ratio to understand how a helical gearbox can assist with performance. Define your requirements to match them accurately with a helical gearbox.
  • Physical factors. You should understand if a helical gearbox will fit in the available space and how it will need to be installed. The structure will need to be able to withstand the weight of the gearbox.
  • Mechanical Integration. The gearbox will need to be connected to the motor, so it is important to identify how this will be done and the type of input it will require.
  • Manufacturer: Last but not least, consider purchasing a reduction gearbox from a reputable manufacturer. All of FCR Motion’s reduction gearboxes are covered under a 12-month warranty upon purchase.

When you choose FCR Motion for your needs, we’ll help match you to the right product, so you don’t have to doubt its suitability or durability.

Yes. If you’re looking for something more specific, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. Our engineers will work with you to design a gearbox solution for your machine or application.

As helical gearboxes have an angular design, the teeth are gradually engaged, which minimises noise pollution and allows for smoother operation. As the teeth are all engaged at the same time, it also increases the torque capacity of the gearbox as the weight is evenly distributed.
